Oral history interview with Joe Brooks, 1976 February 11 and 26.

Interview with Joe Brooks concerning his experiences as a realtor and farmer, including his family background and the founding of Brooks Dairy by his father. Brooks discusses his early life on the farm and in Brooks Dairy, his personal managerial experiences in the dairy business, as well as obtaining milk accounts with Denton public schools, the College of Industrial Arts (Texas Woman's University), North Texas State University, and Denton State School. He then talks about the entry of Borden's and other competitors into the Denton market, the origins of and conflicts concerning the North Texas Milk Producers Association, as well as the growth of orderly milk marketing and the disappearance of small dairies. Brooks explains pricing methods, date marketing, preservatives, management, advertising, employee relations, and the advent of mellorine in the ice cream market. Finally, Brooks speaks about selling the business.
